Our Staff
Community Futures Strathcona staff is available Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 4:30. Staff includes the following individuals.
Marc Crane is the General Manager for Community Futures Strathcona and has held this position for 10 years. Previously he fulfilled the role of General Manager of Strathcona Employment and Economic Development Society (SEEDS). Marc is responsible for the operation of the organization including business loans and investments, training, and advising businesses on developing and expansion. Over the course of 23 years with SEEDS and Community Futures, Marc taught New Enterprise Management and Financial Management at Malaspina College. Previous work experience includes a position as Commercial Loan Manager for a major Credit Union and Senior Commercial Account Manager with the Bank of British Columbia. Tonia Babin is the Administration Manager for Community Futures Strathcona and carries out the financial transactions of the organization in addition to administering its provincial and federal contracts. Tonia has been employed by Community Futures since 1992 and was integral in merging the organization with the Strathcona Employment and Economic Development Society to create Community Futures as it is today. Kevin John is the Loan Analyst for Community Futures Strathcona and is responsible for assessing applications that require financing in addition to maintaining the organizations portfolio of investments. Graduating from UCC (now Thompson Rivers University) with a degree in Business Administration, Kevin has furthered his education through completing the Canadian Securities Course and Canadian Entrepreneurial Studies from the Institute of Canadian Bankers. As a previous small business owner, Kevin is familiar with the requirements of starting a business through to its sale. Originally from the Okanagan Valley, Kevin has been living in the Comox Valley/Campbell River region since starting with Community Futures in 1999. (250-830-0999 – kevin@cfstrathcona.ca)
