Current Projects

Community Futures Strathcona is currently managing and/or participating in the following programs as part of our efforts to support a diversified and competitive local economy.

Destination Courtenay Museum & Paleontology Centre: will engage exhibition designers, fabricators and resource people to galvanize the cumulative research and interpretive work accomplished to date by Courtenay and District Museum staff and volunteers, scientists and historians. The project will take place from April 2012 to September 2012.

The purpose of the project is to heighten the Courtenay and District Museum’s capacity as BC’s premier   marine fossil destination for the benefit of the Comox Valley and North Island by accomplishing the following:

    • To invest in the one-of-a-kind destination potential of the Comox Valley’s dinosaur-age fossil resources for the economic benefit of the community,
    • Increase the museum’s capacity to utilize exhibition areas for the museum’s signature programming which now attracts international visitors on a year round basis, and
    • Expand the museum-s ability to increase regional economic opportunities for spin-off revenues.
